Mercedes S-Class Lemons

We bought a new 2004 S-600 in Feb of '04 and had loads of problems with it. Some were fixed by the dealership and others they said there was no fix "right now". Some of the problems we had were: electrical shorts, the gemand center-telephone interface never worked, the transmission had to be replaced, the driver seatbelt wouldn't work and it took weeks to get it replaced. After paying $130,000 for a car, we expected the quality to be better than the the $3000 Plymouth Duster we bought when we were first married! Oh, and they don't offer free loaners like Lexus and BMW.

So what does Mercedes do to try and keep a good customer? They introduce the 2007 model 1/2 a year early, further reducing the value of our lemon, and offer us a trade in value of $50,000 on a car that is 2.5 years old and charge full MSRP on the 2007 S-600. We expected more from them.

So what did we do? We ordered a 2007 BMW 760Li at a price substantially below sticker. We GAVE the Mercedes to a relative who understands all the issues we had with it. (We were going to make a planter out of it!) Never again, Mercedes, never again.
