How to Measure for New Doll Wig

Your Doll looks sad and bedraggled because her wig is disheveled, matted and perhaps has even lost it's vibrant color. What to do? First of all, if the original wig can be restored, that is the bestsolution to the problem. If this is not possible, the next best thing would be to replace the wig. There are several possibilities to consider as there are manyfibersto choose from. Synthetic, human hair, and mohair are some considerations. I am going to talk about mohair as it is natural and was used extensively for antique dolls and now is a favorite for the new dolls as well. There are three decisions to make for one wig...size, style and color. To determine the size, the doll's head must be measured in inches with the old wig removed and the head cleaned. Place the cloth tape around the head where the hairline would be, above the ears and not over them. This measurement in inches will determine the size...for instance, if the head measures 10 1/2 inches, the size requred would be 10-11. Now it is time to decide what style would be the best and the color. There are plenty of pictures to look at in my store that should help you make that choice. Hope this has helped...if there are other questions regarding wig selection I will be happy to answer your email. Barbara Cimino jb.cimino@verizon.net
